I keep this TV next to my computer monitors so I can watch while I draw or surf. It has excellent color and is very clear. It might not suffice for purists but for me it's excellent. I have DirectTV but not HD so can't comment on that. I also use it to watch DVD's which works out good. As a computer monitor I find it a little lacking in clarity compared to my ViewSonic 903 and 912 monitors, but that wasn't my purpose so it's fine. The price was good and all in all I am pleased. I have always gotten good use out of ViewSonic products.

I read lots of reviews before I bought this TV. One review said the sound was tinny? It's way not! I set mine to music and it sounds awesome, if you set to surround sound it's very loud. the tv is slow changing channels with just a coax directly into it, but I got a HD box from the cable company and since then it changes quickly and I have to admit the HD channels do BLING off the screen. Very awesome TV for an even better price!
No complaints, I love it and may consider buying a bigger Model for the living room. If you're like me and read a lot of reviews and are deciding what TV to buy. This is it!!! Buy it now. Trust me!

Got TV yesterday. Setup was simple. Picture looks great even when not connected to HD. Only thing to improve is the sound. It is not the worst I have seen, but it is not perfect. That being said, sound is acceptable. Overall very happy. Price from J&R with free shipping was great. Delivery was super fast. Bought on a Saturday, delivered on Tuesday!!!

I had not heard of this brand before this purchase but they were one of the few who carried a 24" LCD TV(actually mis-advertized it's 23.5") I had a restricted cabinet opening so it worked out perfectly. I was also impressed with the 2 yr. warranty and the 1080p resolution. I would not hesitate to recommend this to family or friends.

Overall I am very pleased with this TV and it suits the purpose for which I bought it: a 12x12 room with VESA wall-mount. The physical appearance is great and it's very easy to use. I tried all of the inputs and here's what I found:
- HDMI is perfect for Blu-rays; the DVD up-conversion is so-so (there can be digital artifacts several times in an entire movie)
- The component looked (to the naked eye) the same as HDMI
- The composite looked much better for DVD than HDMI/DVD, but it still wasn't awesome. This is why I rate the picture quality as 4 instead of 5.
The sound quality is acceptable. It's nothing to go WOW over but it certainly is clear enough to comfortably enjoy in a 12x12 room.
As a computer monitor, the VGA hook-up is perfect. If I wasn't using it as a regular TV, I'd use it as a PC monitor in a heartbeat. Crystal clear text and did not see any ghosting of any kind.
If you are trying to code a universal remote to this TV, enter codes for Philips / Magnavox (if Viewsonic ones are not in your manual). With that said, I was not able to find one where the "Input" button worked on the universal remote (and I tried quite a few). Volume, channel, and TV power all worked fine with Philips / Magnavox codes.
WARNING: Do -NOT- try to use a Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player with this TV; there was a terrible amount of artifacts (Blu-ray was bad and DVDs were unwatchable). When hooked up to different devices, both the TV and player work fine. I ended up switching to a Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Disc Player and it works perfectly with this TV.
