LG 42LH55 42-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV, Gloss Black. All aspects and setups of this tv were sraight forward and simple.The picture quality and performance is just as crystal as my much more expensive 55 inch six month old Samsung.But the audio output is far superior which i found surprising as i beleived all flat screens speaker systems were barely adequate.

If you play video games or watch sports this is a great tv. The only complainant I have is it only has one type of audio output (optical). Didn't give me a problem because my surround reciever has an optical input. Just had to go buy a cable (about 20 bucks)

Purchased this tv on Dec.14 2009,based on favorable reviews.Easy to set up,disappointed with picture quality compared to our samsung 46 inch hdtv.



Major problem with this tv, After many hours ,talking to lg support and with comcast cable people who came to my home,I cannot get any signal when I connect the hdmi. lg will not replace the tv. Terrible situation after spending that much money.

This is the first time I have ordered something this big and cost on the Internet. I must say it was great. Amazon was great and the delivery company was excellent. TV - Only issue is the audio sync. I have called LG (India??) who have said a tech will call me. When I asked when - I was advised my issue would in put in the queue. I really do like the TV but if they cannot resolve the audio issue, it's going back. Various blogs also report this issue but no one can advise me how to resolve it. I'll have to wait for LG.

I looked far and wide to try to find a TV that comes close to the features that this LH55LH has for the money. Amazon.com was far and away the lowest price when everything was considered. I even went to the local dealer to look see what I was buying and gave them the price I could get on line, with free shipping, delivered to my home and the owner informed me that he paid more than that for the ones he sells in his store and that there in no way any one can sell for that price and he would guarantee me that I cannot buy it for that price either, because when I submit the order, they will add this and that and other things to the price. The price quoted is the price I paid and it was delivered in a timely fashion to my living room and brand-new in the factory box. How you do it, I don't know, but keep up the good work and I'll use you again when I need to purchase something else. Amazon.com is amazing!

Nice TV, crisp picture, colors are vibrant with streaming action (1080i/p mode). When it comes to the refresh rate, I could not tell the difference from the 120Hz model so I'm not convinced there's an improvement. The on-screen menus are intuitive and easily accessible. Predefined viewing modes make it easy to adjust for lighting conditions without going through the tedious process of manually adjusting backlight and color levels.



Overall a great buy.

This was a great purchase. The cost was $800 less than the same item in local stores. The delivery person actually off loaded the set and did total set up to make sure that it worked. The only issue I have with this purchase is that the operation manual is on CD (as most items are these days) so its a hassle to open up the CD when questions arise on operation. Other than this minor item I have had no issues with this purchase.



PS- The 120 Mhz version of this set is still tracking at a HIGHER cost in local retail stores than the online price for the 240 Mhz version.

After deciding on a 55" TV, and a lot of research on LG, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, and Panasonic LCD (with and without LED); and, evaluating them at Best Buy and a local discount appliance store, I purchased the LG 55LH55.

The plasma screen picture was better and I would have selected it but it was highly reflective and would not have worked in my location. I think the Samsung LCD may have a brighter picture also, but again, it had too much reflection, as did all the others, except Sony.

After comparing the Sony and LG, both LED and not, I could not see the difference. Had they been closer in price, I would have bought the Sony just on their reputation.

In deciding between the LH90 and LH55, I was surprised the 55LH90 LED did not look any better than the LH55 and may have been slightly worse, not quite as bright, at two store locations.

I could not tell the difference in the sound quality of them either, or the Sony. They are all adequate and if you want good, you have to buy a stereo receiver.

I would have bought local if I could have found a price within $150 of on-line.

After reading about others' shipping problems, I was worried about such a large, fragile, expensive item.

I ordered from Tiger Direct through Amazon, for $1700, inc shipping. I had no problems with delivery and so far (3 weeks) the TV seems fine. I am happy with the picture. As others have indicated, there are some minor lip-sync issues, with HDMI cable connection, but they are not major. Different programs vary the lip-sync delay so I think some of the problem is with the cable box. I will try to fine tune it and see if it helps but I am going to be connecting to a receiver so that should provide a fix, according to other reviews. I am glad I selected this TV especially for the price, appearance, performance and reflective characteristics.

We decided to buy the HDTV from Amazon because our friend has done it a few times and could not say enough about how easy it was. We did our home work in town and knew exactly what we wanted. I was afraid something would happen in the shipping. It not only arrived in one piece, silly of me to worry that it wouldn't, the company that delivered it was great! The delivery man was courteous and efficient.

The LG HDTV is everything we wanted in a TV. We compared this TV to other brands of the same size and this was the one we chose and are very happy with it.

I bought this unit on black friday from Amazon at a good price. Delivery was within 4 days with no problems encountered. One person setup was fairly easy due to unit thinness and light-weight. Cable-fed HDTV channel displays are great, DVD player up-convert movies significantly better and blu-ray disc movies really superb (240Hz is worthwhile). On the downside, an irritating factor when using the remote controls (including mini-remote) is the auto- default switchover to TV source setting if any channel button is pressed, even though HDMI source was previously selected/set. I dont know if Samsung has an upgrade fix for this as yet but I look forward to it.

Amazing picture! The blacks and the colors are amazing and clear. Also you don't get that whole audio doesn't match the picture syndrome like you get on say an lg.

First I would like to comment on the tv itself...the color and clarity are superb. It is far better than I expected. You will definitely not be disappointed with this purchase. Set up instructions weren't the greatest, but I was able to get it done by myself. I had this tv hooked up to Directv HD and it is outstanding! Pictures are so crisp and life like that you fill as if you are in the same room as the actors.



Now for my purchasing experience...I ordered this television on Amazon January 12th with an expected delivery date of January 19th using Pilot Freight Services. By the 19th I had no contact from the delivery company whatsoever. I called Pilot and was told that they handed my tv off to another delivery agent (Ryder Logisitics); they transferred me over to Ryder and the man I spoke with said, "uh, yeah we got it in on the 15th but it didn't get put on the delivery truck in time and we only deliver in your area once a week so you'll be getting it next week." Of course I was furious and called Amazon Customer Service right then. Amazon apologized and said that they would contact Pilot and get it all straighted out and because my delivery wasn't made on time Amazon was going to reimburse my shipping fee. By that same afternoon I had a call from Pilot saying they had contacted yet again another delivery agent (Midsouth Trucking) who could deliver my tv on January 22nd. As promised my tv was delivered on the 22nd. However, I did have to unbox and set it up myself (no biggie though). I really have to commend Amazon Customer Service for straightening out the delivery service and getting my product delivered. The ladies at Amazon Customer Service were extremely professional and understanding and I just can't say enough about how great they were to me. The people I talked to at Pilot were also apologetic and helpful in getting on the ball and finding another delivery agent for me.



Although at first frustrating, I would highly recommend buying this tv and buying it from Amazon!!
