 "LH55LH TV" 2010-02-07
By W. Evans (somewher west of the Missouri river)
I looked far and wide to try to find a TV that comes close to the features that this LH55LH has for the money. Amazon.com was far and away the lowest price when everything was considered. I even went to the local dealer to look see what I was buying and gave them the price I could get on line, with free shipping, delivered to my home and the owner informed me that he paid more than that for the ones he sells in his store and that there in no way any one can sell for that price and he would guarantee me that I cannot buy it for that price either, because when I submit the order, they will add this and that and other things to the price. The price quoted is the price I paid and it was delivered in a timely fashion to my living room and brand-new in the factory box. How you do it, I don't know, but keep up the good work and I'll use you again when I need to purchase something else. Amazon.com is amazing!

"It doesn't get much better for the $$" 2010-01-30
By Redneck West (Portland, OR)
Nice TV, crisp picture, colors are vibrant with streaming action (1080i/p mode). When it comes to the refresh rate, I could not tell the difference from the 120Hz model so I'm not convinced there's an improvement. The on-screen menus are intuitive and easily accessible. Predefined viewing modes make it easy to adjust for lighting conditions without going through the tedious process of manually adjusting backlight and color levels.

Overall a great buy.

 "LG 55 INCH 240 TRU-MOTION" 2010-01-30
By Cletis Mcmillan (Fletcher, NC United States)
This was a great purchase. The cost was $800 less than the same item in local stores. The delivery person actually off loaded the set and did total set up to make sure that it worked. The only issue I have with this purchase is that the operation manual is on CD (as most items are these days) so its a hassle to open up the CD when questions arise on operation. Other than this minor item I have had no issues with this purchase.

PS- The 120 Mhz version of this set is still tracking at a HIGHER cost in local retail stores than the online price for the 240 Mhz version.

 "Very Good Buy" 2010-01-29
By JayJ (South Texas)
After deciding on a 55" TV, and a lot of research on LG, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, and Panasonic LCD (with and without LED); and, evaluating them at Best Buy and a local discount appliance store, I purchased the LG 55LH55.

The plasma screen picture was better and I would have selected it but it was highly reflective and would not have worked in my location. I think the Samsung LCD may have a brighter picture also, but again, it had too much reflection, as did all the others, except Sony.

After comparing the Sony and LG, both LED and not, I could not see the difference. Had they been closer in price, I would have bought the Sony just on their reputation.

In deciding between the LH90 and LH55, I was surprised the 55LH90 LED did not look any better than the LH55 and may have been slightly worse, not quite as bright, at two store locations.

I could not tell the difference in the sound quality of them either, or the Sony. They are all adequate and if you want good, you have to buy a stereo receiver.

I would have bought local if I could have found a price within $150 of on-line.

After reading about others' shipping problems, I was worried about such a large, fragile, expensive item.

I ordered from Tiger Direct through Amazon, for $1700, inc shipping. I had no problems with delivery and so far (3 weeks) the TV seems fine. I am happy with the picture. As others have indicated, there are some minor lip-sync issues, with HDMI cable connection, but they are not major. Different programs vary the lip-sync delay so I think some of the problem is with the cable box. I will try to fine tune it and see if it helps but I am going to be connecting to a receiver so that should provide a fix, according to other reviews. I am glad I selected this TV especially for the price, appearance, performance and reflective characteristics.

We decided to buy the HDTV from Amazon because our friend has done it a few times and could not say enough about how easy it was. We did our home work in town and knew exactly what we wanted. I was afraid something would happen in the shipping. It not only arrived in one piece, silly of me to worry that it wouldn't, the company that delivered it was great! The delivery man was courteous and efficient.

The LG HDTV is everything we wanted in a TV. We compared this TV to other brands of the same size and this was the one we chose and are very happy with it.

We love this television. We originally purchased a Samsung, but it was lost in shipping and we had to find a new tv. After looking over other reviews we decided on this television and we have not regretted it at all. Very impressive picture quality.

By Raymond Holderman (Largo, FL United States)
Toshiba REGZA 55ZV65OU is a very good 55 inch LCD 1080P HDTV.It has clearscan 240. My wife told me to buy it, because my old Toshiba 44 inch HDTV was so bulky. This will be wall-mounted. The pictures are great, sound is good, and it's easy to set up. The sharpness is good, even at an angle. My dogs brains' can process the pictures at 1080P. The first week, they would bark at the intruders on the screen and look behind the set to see what was going on. Sometimes they sit on the couch with me to watch TV. I would buy it again. It came quickly, undamaged, with a minimum of fuss from Amazon. No taxes or shipping fees made it an even better deal.

I would say that I am very much satisfied of the tv that I purchased ! It was amazing!! I loved watching how clear it is watching the shows especially with HD in it. I bought this for my husband's christmas present and he just loved it. It looks really great in our family room and my kids loved it as well. As for the price, this was the best deal I've ever found. I have been comparing prices, size, and other things that's in it, so far elsewhere is more expensive. Service is very quick. I received the tv 5 days from the day that I purchased. That's why I loved shopping at amazon.com because so far it hasn't failed me yet. I would highly recommend this to my friends and relatives.

 "Excellent Choice" 2010-01-02
By M. Polhemus (Atlanta, GA)
After research for a new LCD TV, we decided on the Toshiba and were not disappointed. This unit received the #2 spot on consumer reports list for a reason. Using the proper cables to support the highest refresh rate we experienced an excellent picture. Until we purchase the receiver we would like, we continue to use the TV's speakers. They provide adequate sound but nothing stellar. A nice surround sound system is sure to compliment the beautiful picture on this 55" set but isn't mandatory. We're very happy with our decision and expect years of trouble free service from this set as we've owned a smaller Toshiba Regza TV for several years with no issues whatsoever.

 "Almost Great HDTV" 2010-02-04
By A. Sheffield (Kaysville, UT)
The TV has been great. It has provided great picture quality and I can't complain about the sound. I have HDTV, DVD, XBOX, and a computer all running to it and all of them work great with it. There is no S-video, but I haven't used an s-video cable in years so not a problem for me. The options to adjust the picture are great, and it never really gets warm (like some other TV's tend to do). I have really enjoyed this TV.

The only downside that I have experienced is the audio output (only Optical, not RCA). I wanted to run the red/white audio out to a set of auxiliary speakers, but the speakers don't have optical input and the TV only has optical output. That is probably my biggest and pretty much only complaint.

"No regrets on this one" 2010-01-30
By Noel (SouthTexas)
I have had this TV (LG 55LH40) for two months and have no regrets. What persuaded me to buy this was, #1: All the commendable reviews. #2: A reasonable price. Now (01/30/10) I see Amazon has the price at $1369.00 with free shipping. A couple hundred less than I paid and that should make it an even sweeter deal. It is unlikely you will find fault with this one. Great picture. Decent sound.

"LG TV should be a top consideration for LCD shoppers" 2010-01-29
By G. D. Grubbs (U.S.)
We were looking to get a large LCD TV in the end of 2008, and therefore focusing on 52 inch TVs. The prices seemed to be unstable, and since we missed a really good deal, we kept waiting for it to happen again, especially after Christmas that year. The prices went up instead.

So around Christmas 2009, we started again, but this time 55 inch LCD TVs were the big thing, and after looking at several, this LG seemed to have the best combination of features at the price point we were evaluating. I was on the edge of getting it when it was at $1479 one morning, but didn't. Later that afternoon it was $1399, less than the local price, and with no tax and free shipping with white glove delivery and setup, it was hard to beat, so I jumped on it. (As I write this review, it's $1380!)

This TV has a beautiful picture, and the sound is fine (to me) without attaching a surround sound system. I think I'm going with LG products on TV's and Blu-ray players for the foreseeable future, as the quality appears to excellent. Hopefully, they won't become like Sony and after many years let everything go to pot. I can't bring myself to buy anything Sony anymore, with all the products that I've had by them more recently that fell apart far too soon.

Just a word about the delivery if bought through Amazon -- it was a wonderful experience. I was able to schedule a delivery time range, and when they brought it, they took everything out of the box, set it up, and took all the trash away, so no TV box out for trash pickup advertising to everyone what we got. I would buy a TV from Amazon again in a heartbeat, if I need one.

And after the experience with this LG TV, I think I'm going to need a smaller LG for my bedroom pretty soon.

I would also suggest the LG BD 370 Network Blu-ray Disc Player or LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player for those in the market for a Blu-ray player, especially with Netflix streaming.

 "I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY, CAN'T YOU TELL??!!!" 2010-01-25
By Rex
Everybody has one except me. So I went out looking for an LCD TV and I finally found one. This is the perfect size for my living room. Any bigger would be just too big (and you will start seeing pixels if you get a large TV in your small living room.)

Plug the TV, plug any regular rabbit ears antenna, and in no time, you may start to receive digital TV signals. I was able to pick up ABC, CBS, KPBS, and Fox channels all in High Definition just by using an old antenna. I don't watch that much TV so I'm not going to subscribe to Cable or Satellite. The channels I got are more than enough especially during prime time. I plan on renting or buying BluRay movies.

I haven't purchased a BluRay player yet, but when I do, it will be the LG BD390 (because it has NetFlix, CinemaNow, etc. internet-based entertainment services (This TV model does not have it. The model LH50 TV series does.). So, I haven't really tested this TV to its full potential. The LH40 and BD390 will be a great combo!

I like the EnergySaver mode. You can select presets (Min, Med, Max, Auto, etc.) on how much energy you want it to save. It will dim the picture which is perfect because at night when I dim my living room lamps, the picture is just too bright in the room. Dimming the TV using the EnergySaver modes helps with this issue.

The swivel stand is very useful.

If you're about 7 feet away and you have 9 guys sitting side by side in the living room, about shoulder-to-shoulder width apart from each other, The guys in the middle get the best viewing angle while guys #1 and #9 will be at a viewing disadvantage. The picture becomes dim for them, but still acceptable.

There is no S-Video input in case you plan on hooking up your old S-Video devices. Waaa! It would have been nice, but not really necessary.

In the first week of use, I noticed 2 dead pixels. This is a problem with any LCD (even my Samsung 24" computer LCD monitor has a dead pixel). But it's not noticeable at all when you're 3+ feet away and watching your favorite programs. You have to be about 4+ feet away so you don't strain your eyes anyway, dummy!

All in all, this is a great LCD TV. Don't think that low 70,000:1 contrast ratio is sub par compared to other LCD TVs out there. Sure, others will have their whites more white, and their blacks more black but this TV is just perfect. See if you can find this brand new for $1099. I did! ;)

 "Fantastic picture, BUTT!!!" 2009-11-30
By R. Cantrell (KC MO)
Best picture I ever have seen in a flat panel compared even to my Pioneer elite, but my biggest concern was these halos that would show up around people or objects moving and this is not a fast movement problem. I have heard that this is a 240hz problem for the motion blur. I did notice that if I turned off the motion blur the halos went away. This kind of defeats having motion blur settings and feature. These halos are very annoying also the picture viewing area seems narrower than most LCD sets. Returned the set and went for the PN58B860 plasma, which has a great picture too! I have also been reading some other problems showing up on this TV. Great picture but these little problems make for a bad combo.

"No complaints so far - the image is STUNNING" 2009-11-28
By Nick Papadopoulos
Just picked one up from Sears this afternoon. Paid $2,600 with the 10% Sears card discount. Replaced a 62" Toshiba DLP. Compared it to the 8500 and didn't see the value in spending another $1K. Also compared it to the Sony XBR9 and the Samsung did it for me.

Brought it home and had it running in 15 minutes. No problems at all. I must say the colors are just sick. I'm watching the Boise State-Nevada game on ESPN through Cox Digital Cable (Cox STB connected through an HDMI cable) and the 'blue' of the Boise State uniforms and helmets is just unbelievable. Details of the field and the sidelines are intense. I can see the paint chips from the 'stick' marks on the players' helmets. I agree with other posts regarding the 3D appearance. The image just pops out. SImply amazing.

I've tried. I've really tried to find the problems with the spotlights in the corners. No luck. Perhaps the problems relate to older models. Perhaps it's a firmware fix. There's no doubt Samsung is having QC problems along with customer service issues. If I were experiencing the spotlights or random source selection or defective features that others have experienced, I would be just as upset as they must be. But this unit is beautiful and I am fortunate...so far.

As for those complaining about the speakers, I disagree. No, they do not compare to 5.1 or 7.1 systems, but they are more than adequate for 'the basics'. I do plan to purchase a home theater.

I picked up the extra warranty from Sears based on the comments from other posters. I plan on watching A LOT of TV over the next 30 days as the box is still in the garage. If I experience the QC problems it's going back.

Overall, I recommend it. Best of luck to those with problems.

"WOW - Better than my high expectations." 2009-11-20
By Joe Brewer (Parsippany, NJ)
I am a bit of a gadget guy and a techy. As such, I was not expecting to be surprised with this purchase. I knew the features, I knew the details, I saw this in stores. I was surprised at 2 things.

The picture looks much better in my house then it did in the store! It has better depth and the color/tones are fantastic. Both are much better then I experienced in the stores. The color/tones was the main reason I was leaning towards Sony but the bightness of this set was needed for my enviroment. So I was surprised that I got the brightness I needed and the fantastic color that I wanted.

Additionally, I was please to find that Samsung opened up all of the A/V settings so you can seriously adjust the picture to suit the envirmoment and the types of viewing you will do. {I have a lot to learn on this aspect. My previous Sony you had to go into a special mode for those settings. I never bothered}.

A shout out to the white gloves service. They were simple, effective, and quick. They brought it in, unpackaged it, connected it, tested (with me observing) and were gone after cleaning up after themselves.

I installed this on the wall myself using the Samsung Ultra-slim mounting kit. This kit was as easy as hanging a 50lb picture. The kit also includes a special movable "leg" that allows you to tilt the TV out from the wall to make connections. It worked great.

Bring on the remainder of Football season!

"Slim Mount is not so great if you plug your TV in behind the TV" 2009-11-18
By M. Butler
Everything about the TV so far is great! I am not convinced I needed the 240Hz, though. My only complaint is that when using the slim mount that was designed for this TV, there is not enough clearance behind the TV to plug it in without installing a recessed recepticle. Very poor planning on Samsung's part! A real 'bonehead' move for a mount that retails at $250!!!
