 "A great, frugal choice" 2010-01-24
By Digital Dori (Charlotte, NC USA)
I am VERY happy with this TV. I upgraded from a 1994 model Panasonic CRT 26-inch. I have been very pleased with Panasonic reliability over the years. I researched 720p vs. 1080p and learned that my cable company feeds mostly 720p. If it feeds something higher, this TV will up-convert to 1080i. Since the human eye can't tell the difference at 10 feet, my normal viewing distance, why pay for 1080 or LCD? I have seen no blurring in fast motion, as is common with LCD. This plasma does not throw out much heat as the old ones did.

When I first hooked up this TV, I tried a DVD (1980s TV series) and was not happy with the quality; I thought I had made a big mistake. Then I remembered others' reviews that emphasized signal source. I put in a better DVD and was very pleased. Then I upgraded to HD via my cable company and WOW. They used a quality HDMI cable, and the picture is fantastic. I watch mostly TV programs and DVDs, no video games.

This was a perfect choice for me. I got it for five and a quarter BenFranklin bills at a local retailer h_h_gr$gg. I could not be happier and I would recommend it to anyone. It is a quality TV at a recession price.

 "Great TV" 2010-01-08
By Bruce C. Richardson (Eden, NC USA)
I love this TV. I bought this to replace a 30" CRT for our living room. I did a lot of research and this had all the bells and whistles I wanted at a very affordable price. I love being able to name the inputs (there are more than what I need). That way when my kids want to watch something I don't need to choose which input they need. I also like that you can adjust the picture and volume for each of the inputs. We are still "old school" and have a VCR hooked up to this TV and being able to adjust the picture for the videos has made a big difference. Especially when I go to watch a DVD and I don't have to switch it back. They have preset settings but also a custom setting that you can use. It remembers your custom setting so if you want to look at the other settings to decide what you like you don't have to keep adjusting the custom settings you had. The menus are pretty easy to navigate and give you a variety of setting to choose from. If you are worried about burn in this TV has some settings and even a scroll bar to take care of that.

The only thing I do not like is that is does not have an audio out for RCA. It does have digital, but like I said we are still alittle "old school" and don't have a digital surround sound unit. For me the sound coming from the TV is good - not great- especially if you adjust the treble and bass settings a little. I guess the next investment after Blue-Ray will be digit audio.

"Best bang for your buck" 2010-01-05
By R. Stevens
After a lot of research it became apparent that a 720P HD TV made

the most sense economically and a plasma format the best picture.

The picture both with and without HD is super.Set up in a small room with lots of bay windows. Absolutely no reflection on screen. The

filter works perfectly. Manual is user friendly. The sound is acceptable but not great. The diagrams for attaching the base to the

screen needs improving. I find it hard to believe that a 1080P set

is worth the significant extra cost.I paid $580.00 at Costco which

includes an extra years warranty.Great value for the money.

"Barely Any Difference From This TV and My Sony Bravia Z-series 46 in!" 2009-12-30
By M. Roberson
I purchased this TV from Amazon.com on black friday. Even though the TV is 720p, there is no difference in picture quality compared to my Sony Bravia z-series 46 inch TV, which is 1080p by the way. Be sure to hook up the HDMI cable to the TV and I promise the picture will be great! I bought this TV for my bedrooom. Before this TV I had a Panasonic tube flat screen, and I never watched TV in our bedroom.. And now my wife complains that I only watch TV in the bedroom with her because of the TV. Sunday Football is great on this TV. I highly encourage anyone to purchase this TV. Great bang for your buck!

Nice clear picture, easy set up and can't beat the price. I use it with a wall mount so it takes up less space in the game room. Even though it is a 780 dpi you can not really tell the difference. Glad to have saved the money with Amazon.com Highly suggest this purchase for those looking for a excellent value and dependable product. The remote is also nice because it has the bigger buttons.

 "So far so good" 2010-01-25
By A. D'Angelo
I bought this TV at Best Buy for $399. Color (I boosted to 70%) and Clarity is great for the price. I have only had the product for 2 weeks and I have no issues so far. I own a 37" Samsung (720p LCD), which is 2.5 years old and I have had no problem with that one as well.

 "Fantastic" 2010-01-24
By R. Wismer (Jeffersonville, PA United States)
I have a Panasonic Viera 32" and the picture on both tvs' is excellent. I am giving the Samsung a slight edge because it is a bit more user friendly. The channel information displayed on the Samsung is more detailed and the buttons on the remote control are better arranged. Some people have complained about the sound quality. I will tell that even on a the top of the line Samsungs, the sound quality does not even approach a dedicated theater system. You can easily add a home theater system for 100-200 dollars. Check Consumer Reports for reviews. The Samsung was very easy to set up. Great product. Highly recommended.

"Overall a solid TV, but with one issue..." 2010-01-23
By M. Ram (San Jose, CA, USA)
I was going to write a long review of this TV, but I think a few points speak for themselves:

-The stand was easy to assemble, and the TV is so light (yet durable) that it was a snap to install by myself. It rotates easily and smoothly, and diffuses light off the screen (so you don't have to watch movies in total darkness for fear of glare on the screen).

-From the first time starting up, the TV prompts you to pick out a few settings of your choosing. We have (limited basic) cable, so I went into the menus afterward and had the TV scan through all the available channels. Amazingly, this TV picks up more channels (including a bunch of digital channels) than another HDTV (a 4-year-old plasma) that we have in a separate room. The broadcast channels are fuzzy of course, but the HD channels look fantastic! Of course, I had to modify the picture and audio settings to really make things look and sound good, but once they were set, I knew this TV was worth it. It only took around a half hour of tinkering and I think I'm done for good (as opposed to the plasma, which still has issues). The settings are also independent for each source, so you can watch movies and play games knowing they look their best. As for sound, the speakers are decent, especially with the SRS turned on, but the bass output is limited, and even a 2.1 surround setup will sound much richer.

-I have an HD DVD player hooked up via one of the HDMI ports, and have sampled a few discs in high-definition, but what really surprises me is how good regular DVDs look. True, they're "upconverted" by the player, but it's still a wonder how they can look so good. The latest one I watched was the Pixar movie Up, and it looked PERFECT...it was crystal clear, with vivid colors and a real sense of depth and scale. The Blu-Ray version may have a higher resolution, but I was more than happy with what I saw (and this is coming from someone who just bought a PS3).

-EDIT: The only nagging issue I have with the TV is with "ghosting," especially in dark scenes. This mainly seems to happen with HD channels and certain HD movies. For instance, I watched the HD DVD of Blade Runner, and at certain times (mainly during the chases through the dark city streets), there was a faint "trail" as the characters would turn their heads or run across the screen. I'm hoping this won't affect gaming on the PS3, but it is something to consider.

 "Great Bedroom TV" 2010-01-22
By J. Gant (Somerville, MA USA)
This TV is a perfect fit for my bedroom. Great connections, picks up my digital cable channels directly from the co-ax (Comcast, North Boston). My one complaint is that the TV needs to be dusted every day. I do have a cat, and that is the problem. Nothing else I have attracts the dust like this TV. The black bezels around the screen really show the dirt, but the screen stays relatively dust free.

Make sure you know who you are buying this from. I didn't get it directly from Amazon, so it was slightly more expensive and came via FedEx. If you get it from Amazon it ships via a special carrier, includes scheduled delivery and setup. Next time something tries to ship via FedEx I plan to have it shipped to the closest UPS store to the warehouse and then shipped to me UPS. FedEx blows; tracking is uninformative and outdated, re-routing requests is impossible, and when I went to the depot to pick it up the guy rolled the box too me. Thank god for double boxing and airbags.

I'll make this short and sweet. This TV produces deep black levels, and amazing bright colors. Its energy efficient. My only squabble is it only has 2 HDMI ports and no side ports. Bottom line, for entry level LCD 32" TVs, this set "takes the picture quality cake".

"Samsung wigits and B750 series LCD TV" 2010-01-22
By Kelvin M. Palsic
The TV is good but don't expect it to have a crystal clear picture like store models if you are receiving an analog cable signal. On the other hand DVD movies are awesome with no pixel degeneration in action scenes and blacks are dark enough for me. Sound system is somewhat weak so spend some dollars for at least a sound bar. Wigits are a joke so if you are buying for with the intention of surfing the web you will be very disappointed. If you view a lot of you tube, or rent blockbuster movies (selection is limited) it might have benefit but manipulating the key pad for navigation is awkward at best. I also purchased a wireless network adaptor which works very well and I can share picture files from my computer. You cannot share programs so hence internet access is out. Files from a share folder only! I have not connected a hard drive to the TV to use it as a monitor to see how it performs with steaming content with the computer acting like a server. There may be ways around these short comings but I haven't had time to play with it. I viewed a lot of different models and Samsung in my opinion has one of the very best picture qualities in this line of any manufacturer.

 "Samsung LN46B750 is a winner" 2010-01-21
By Jeff Hinkle (Portland, TN USA)
Very pleased with the LN46B750. We purchased this TV on sale in December during a promotion that included a free Samsung Blu-ray player. Both units work exceptionally well together and Blu-ray movies are absolutely stunning. At times, the picture is surreal looking. No problems with fast motion scenes in movies or sports. Glossy screen was a concern, but it has proven to not be a problem in various lighing conditions ranging from brightly lit incandescent, moderate sunlight from a bank of windows, or viewing in the dark. Not to say there is never any glare in those situations, but it has not been a distraction. Although there is a plethora of settings, I have tweaked the TV very little. I have not seen the need to greatly modify the settings, but there is a wealth of information on the internet for those that choose to do so. Streaming content through a LAN wire has been surprisingly good with Netflix. I haven't tried the wireless adapter that Samsung sells, so I can not comment on streaming content wirelessly. For anyone with Comcast (I live in northern middle Tennessee as a point of reference), tv viewing has been through a Comcast HD-DVR cable box with picture quality ranging from excellent (HD channels) to average (standard def channels). Depending on strength of signal, there can be slight picture degradation at times, but this is a Comcast issue not the LN46B750. Another positive is the number of component connections available on this TV. Check Samsung's website for a good picture of the various connections to assist you in planning your home theater set-up or incorporating your existing components. Planning ahead also will help you determine your cable needs prior to set-up. Better to buy cables at a great price on Amazon instead of getting hosed at BB. Now for why I rated the TV 4 stars instead of 5. I really don't believe a 5 star TV exists, but here are the slight negatives. Remotes is slightly clunky meaning it doesn't register instantly. There is a slight lag, maybe a second. Internet widgets are slow and the interface is a pain in the you know where. It is similar to the Wii where a graphical keyboard appears on screen. You navigate the keyboard with the arrows of the remote. The widgets themselves are not bad, but the way they are implemented probably needs a model year or two before the concept and ease of application are at the same level. The sound is average, but many reviewers have commented on this before. Treble is crisp and clear. Bass leaves something to be desired. This is realistic based on the size of the speakers, so it didn't come as a shock. Surround sound speakers or a speaker bar will probably enhance your viewing experience, if that is your preference. I plan to add one of the two in the near future. I hope your find this review helpful. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend or family member.

"Arrived Broken. Terrible customer service from Amazon.com" 2010-01-21

This item arrived cracked so we refused delivery. Amazon will not issue our refund for another month. Their customer service emails state that they need to inspect the item before issuing refund. This seems outrageous to me since I never took possession of the item. Amazon seems to imply that they won't issue the refund unless they are satisfied with the returned item, but in fact I am not returning the item since I never took possession of it.

All I can say is that the experience exceeded all of my expectations. I could track the package easily and the delivery and set up was a breeze. I was watching my new TV five minutes after receiving it. We are very happy with the purchase and if you are concerned about ordering online . . . don't be. We are extremely happy and satisfied with our purchase.

 "Great LCD TV" 2010-01-18
By reader (AL United States)
I'm not a big TV fan, but my wife is so after a lot of price/quality comparisons and research I got her the LG 42LH40. The only other LCD HD tv I have bought is a Samsung and I have been sold on that brand. After comparisons the LG picture is as good as the Samsung's. Colors and options are fine. I found that on line Black Friday sales after Thanksgiving probably are the best times to buy TVs.

After you search and find the best price, always remember that Amazon and its affiliates is one of the safest ways to order online. I always use Amazon if possible.

"Great Picture, Too Many Settings" 2010-01-17
By Brian Harrison (Maryland, USA)
Firstly, the display quality on this television is excellent. I am running cable TV through it, along with a Wii on component cables and an Xbox 360 on HDMI. Everything looks great... after you spend hours messing with the settings! For example, your brightness on Game Mode with component cables can be different than Cinema Mode with HDMI. While it's good to have those options, if you multiply all of the settings for each mode, then multiply that with each input, you literally end up with hundreds of settings to change before you can sit back and enjoy it! You can make things easy by relying on the Intelligent Sensor, but, in my experience, it always makes the picture very dark. Ultimately, once everything is set your way, the picture is beautiful! Another plus is the low weight - One person can carry it once it's out of the box.

By John W. Spetz (USA)
I bought this on Amazon in late December of 2009 so it probably had the lip-sync fix but the problem persists. For me the sound is a little behind the video. People close their mouths before you hear the last quarter of the last word they spoke. It's very close but it looks terrible if it's even a little off. Everybody who watched it commented. I tried to fix it by connecting the digital optical out from the LG to my receiver but that did not work. I finally fixed it by connecting the cable box optical out directly to the receiver.

First of all I was so scared to order something like this without seeing it. I read all the reviews and trusted Amazon. When it was delivered to my mother's as it was a gift the man offered to set it up. I was impressed. I bought the 42" and did not know if it would be the best size. It is perfect. The picture quality is outstanding and I love that the sound is so clear my husband doesn't have to turn it up so loud the neighbors can hear it. He LOVES this tv. I felt I got a good price on Amazon and with no tax or shipping it was great. I am sitting here watching it now. Great tv. Don't hesitate if you are thinking of a flat screen. LG has done a superior job with this!

 "Samsung v, Panasonic" 2010-01-18
By Eric Bertsch (Ventura, CA)
Wife and I bought Samsung 55" 850(LED backlit) as our Christmas present to each other. Ever since setting it up we have loved it. It's a beautiful piece of engineering and display technology. The ease of use is awesome. Deleting unwanted TV channels is a piece of cake, quick & simple. Auto clock & date, too.

The Panasonic 42S we bought today is much more difficult and awkward to delete unwanted channels. Hit the green button for next page of channels to remove or add takes 20 seconds for the new set to load. It takes 15 minutes to get to channel 112 because there is no direct jump to capability. User must start at channel 1-8 the hit the next page button, wait 20 to 40 seconds for pg2 and so on. Even just simple channel surfing, the channel changing is clunky - slow.

TV processor speed and operating software are important yet overlooked elements of deciding which TV we consumers would want to bring into our homes. While we fuss endlessly about it with our desktops and laptops, no one pays attention to it with this new generation of HD digital TV's. There must be specs on this somewhere but I didn't see it mentioned during my shopping research.

We did pay 6x more for the Samsung, but for $700 to $800, the Panasonic s/b much easier to use than what it is. I am considering taking it back just for this reason. Our local cable provider re-arranges the upper digital channels on a weekly basis.

"Amazing HDTV at an incredible price" 2010-01-18
By Perth87 (New York, USA)
After reading the numerous positive reviews for this television on Amazon.com and [...], I decided to purchase this TV. Delivery was simple and quick. The TV itself is very attractive with a shiny black border and stand. I think it is quite thin for a plasma TV. The picture quality is UNBELIEVABLE. The colors were all correct and well saturated in every mode (except Cinema which was a bit green). The standard video setting is excellent but Vivid mode is beyond belief! I watched The Dark Knight as well as the Planet Earth series in blu-ray (on a PS3) and they were phenomenal (especially Planet Earth). The plasma really beats lcd technology with video being far smoother and blacks coming out much deeper than on an lcd tv. The speakers are quite good for TV speakers and there were no issues with the sound being too soft or inaccurate. There are absolutely no negative issues with this television at all.

 "Love this Panasonic Plasma!" 2010-01-09
By C. miner (Nebraska)
Overall, I am really pleased with this plasma tv. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to watch tv in low lighting conditions. It looks good in the day too, but it really pops in the dark! The sound quality wasn't excellent so if you want a total audio experience I'd recommend a receiver. This TV is probably on about 12-15 hours each day, but it does not get overheated. Out of the box, the stand seemed a little light for such a heavy tv, but it ended up being very sturdy after it was screwed in. It took us about an hour to set up the tv between hooking up the blu-ray, vcr, receiver, satellite, and configuring it. I thought that was pretty good especially since our audio receiver is ancient. Though it still sounds good, it does not even have an hdmi hookup. Next purchase: new reciever/speakers.

 "Simply a great deal" 2010-01-04

Purchasing this Plasma was a bit of a debate. I was replacing a Sharp Aquos 32 for a wall mount installation in our family room. I'm not a tech weenie and really need to see the picture and play with the set befor buying. But finally it came down to one issue - viewing angle. I can't tell you the difference the plasma makes here. But this selection was much more. The purchase experience and delivery were superior to anything I've experience before. We ordered just before Christmas and took delivery the following Monday. The price was not the lowest... but I was bound to buy from Amazon because of 'rewards' certificates... we ended up getting a fair deal no matter where we purchased from. The big payoff was Performance..... SUPERB... from the ease of installation and set up... 5 minutes... and the factory settings were almost exactly what we needed. Changing the settings was simple and easy to get the desired results. We know this is a Bargin Plasma TCP42S1 but we we got top dollar results for our choice.
